Maison Martin Margiela – Artisanal Line A/W 2010

Since its startup in 1989, this is the first MMM Artisanal line collection without Margiela as head of the creative team. These garments are created by putting togheter new and second hand items Margiela took from inspiration trips around the globe that he thought had sartorial value.

For AW ’10, Maison Martin Margiela focused on playing around with fabrics, often using different sorts of animal skins; “real or faux, leather or fur, with scales or nappa, suede or shiny, patent or mat, textured or embossed, starch or soft, stretch or rigid”. The collection, which was centred around brown and black, also had an “urban cowgirl” feeling.
